Ouch, looks like the blackbird is handling it carefully. !! well spotted ILR. Would imagine with the ground being so hard and worms further underground a lot of birds are seeking out insects.

Good shots ILR, did I read that the Beeeaters would bash the bee to get rid of the sting before taking it into the nest. It was on that thread the other day I think.

Thanks Hazel I think it was a young bird but it certainly dealt with the wasp in a professional manor and it had already
Killed another wasp before it took on this one. I noticed a wasp having a drink in the bird bath so there were a few about.

Hi Gaynor the bird just squashed the wasp with its bill but was very wary in doing so.
