The Moorhen pair on our water garden now have hatchlings !
and just taken to the water for first time - or three of them did Difficult to get photos as I had to lean right over the balcony 3 floors up. !!
and one unhatched egg ....

A young yellowhammer?
The first broods of juvenile blackbirds are becoming very prolific in the garden.
This one was enjoying a bath in a bowl of water for the visiting hedgehogs and other garden visitors.
"That's right kidda, wash behind them ears, or you'll be able to grow spuds in 'em...."

Taken about three weeks ago when another momma Mally turned up with her new clutch !
always fascinating to watch as she leads them down the easiest route to the pond and coaxes them to take their first plunge. Quite scary for the chicks I'm sure as she persuades them to follow her ......
One took the plunge and she began coaxing the others to follow
sorry not great photos but I was struggling with very poor eyesight at the time ......................a week ago I got my new Zeiss lens implants :) so hopefully better photos in the future once I can use the camera again.
Leap of faith as it was quite a drop to the water. !
