Yesterday was another beautiful day so we decided to go a drive around Loch Lomond & the Trossachs as previously I had only ever been to a place called Luss.......you can see the route we took below....
The scenery was spectacular although I had to keep my eyes firm on the roads as they were pretty tight and full of motorbikes...a was beginning to regret the drive as we passed through Callander (been here before..lovely wee town )....road works ...grrrr
So finally came to our 1st loch but it was soooo busy I could only abandon the car for 2 mins to take pics.
Loch Lubnaig
So from here on in a didn't really take note of the names as even for a Scot a couldny pronounce them
Not much wildlife around sadly as too many fishers, paddle boards etc
A lovely wee waggie though
Of all the Lochs we stopped at this was my favourite..probably because I could pronounce it aswell lol
Lochearnhead
and then just as we sat to enjoy the scenery we noticed Lizards basking in the sun next to us
I have never seen Common Lizards before so that was a nice 1st as I was pretty disappointed with the lack of birds by this point
I had to stop quickly to take a pic of this Ben ...am not sure which it is....they all had snow on their peaks!
Also had to make a Pitstop here as it looked stunning
Just needed a bird of prey or something!!!!...was not to be :-(
It was time for food stop at a town called Killin
I had a picnic with us and we were serenaded by a lovely chaffi
Another Waggie lol
Another lovely Ben
More Lochs..,still no birds
Finally made it round to Loch Lomond were there was some wildlife!!
Walking on water
Was I glad to see the Cormorants
Until the speed boats drove them away
It was a very long scary drive at time, very beautiful scenery but deeply disappointed with lack of wildlife so needless to say I won't be doing that again in a hurry lol
Thanks for reading anyhow...Next outing shall be better.
Stay safe
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
There was a near miss right infront of me PB! The car infront had indicated to overtake a cyclist (even more insane than bikers wanting to cycle that road) and at that point a Harley was overtaking me and by the time he got past me then he nearly got hit by the car infront of me overtaking the cyclist and then there was an oncoming vehicle am sure it was a thrill for the biker but my heart was in ma mouth!!! Well done yous going up Glen Coe...sadly a dont think a will be back that route any year soon.
Lot to learn
There very good photos. Even though you didn’t see much Wildlife at least you saw some of them. sometimes birds of prey show up and sometimes they don’t. I think You could of just missed him, but there’s allways next time. It could also be he was there earlyer or arrived later after you left. The photos of one of the Ben Mountains are very good aswell. One of my favourite photos you took is the lizard but I think there all very good ones. And Even though you didn’t see much Wildlife you got some very good landscape photos
Scotland has a lot of spectacular scenery, and while it is a shame that places like Loch Lomond and The Trossachs are a victim of their own beauty. Around Aviemore has a similar situation, with all the sports and activity places, but when you get away from those places, things do take a turn for the better.
And marauding motorbikes, nuff said there.
Motorbikes, when I drove artic lorries, they were a nightmare along twisty roads, and I didn't have the full vision cars have, too many blind spots, and the risk of severe damage to the rider was, well, I tried not to think about it, and back then 38 tonnes was the max load, not 44 like today!
You got to see and photo a lizard. Lizzy and friends are often shy, and the scenery photos, well, they're stunning, even the viaduct against the hill side looked stunning.
One type of photo I struggle to get, and you managed a couple, water almost like glass with perfect reflections. They would look good in the shadows and reflections thread.
A brilliant day out with brilliant photos to show for it.

My that is a very long drive Linda in one day. Around Loch Lomond is very pretty, mind you all the way down the west coast has beautiful scenery, alongside that the scary windy roads and traffic! Shame about the lack of birds.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
