I thought I was start a new thread dedicated to our beautiful wee Dunnocks and hope you will share all your fabulous Dunnock pics aswell. These wee birds don't get the credit they deserve and are often mistaken for allsorts of other birds.
Please feel free to add your pics
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
I normally only see one Dunnock in the garden, but today there were two. Unfortunately I only managed to get pictures of one.
These Dunnocks were either brave or foolish. Seemed quite tame, as they sat in a tree right next to Blackwater valley footpath, as it passes along the south edge of the Manor farm section of the nascent Longwater road nature reserve. Normally quite dark, under the trees, I was lucky to get halfway decent light for once.
However, they didn't always want to be photographed.
I've been this close (i.e. 15 feet or so) to Dunnocks, but they've never hung around to be photographed. This morning, I was able to stop, turn to face them, turn on my camera, take off the lens cap, bring camera up, find bird, focus and snap. Extraordinary.
90% luck, 5% field craft, 5% camera skills.
The first one is a cracker. Well done Angus ...
The second one nearly makes the 'Bottoms up' Thread ...
Took this photo yesterday:
Nice pose, well captured ...
