It's probably an ideal time to start the 2022 Odds & Sods thread off, with some squabbling starlings....

This pair of starlings were having a right old go at each other, whilst another nipped in to the coconut shell for a food

Looked out on to garden, yesterday at 14:00. Perplexed as seemed to be an awful lot of blackbirds searching through leave on lawn. Weather was ultra gloomy, with thick, low lying cloud. Grabbed camera and discovered a small flock of Redwing were making best use of my, deliberately, messy garden in Finchampstead, Berks. Although I've seen Redwing around - normally Moor Green Lakes Nature reserve - I've never seen them around our house, let alone in our garden.
90% luck, 5% field craft, 5% camera skills.
Lovely shots Angus. The snow really sets them off ...
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Thanks all.
I was surprised to see the birds back in the garden, yesterday. Hopefully they will hang around this winter. I will have to scrape the leaves off the lawn at some point in the next couple or so weeks. I've held off this long due to the mild autumn. Trees around us are still shedding leaves like mad.
The face says it all.....

The Goldfinch looked very hungry on the thistle yesterday. A real joy to watch
