It's probably an ideal time to start the 2022 Odds & Sods thread off, with some squabbling starlings....

This pair of starlings were having a right old go at each other, whilst another nipped in to the coconut shell for a food

Brilliant photos as always Hazel.
How is Parkgate faring after the big fire earlier this year?
Michael B said:
To be honest Mike, I was expecting far worse after the fires but the marsh grass looked lush and couldn't really notice where the huge fire was (that destroyed 10 hectares) so maybe it was slightly further out and you could see it better from the air. Of course, I think there was severe .root damage caused to some of the reed-bed and salt marsh vegetation which may take several years to recover from. There was still birdlife to be seen and personally I didn't notice much difference from the time we went pre-fire.

It sounds like there has been an impressive recovery, even though there will be extensive root damage, and very likely many plant species still yet to recover.
From what I recall, and a search confirms, the fire did spread right up to the wall where the pub is by the car park.
So got back from Yorkshire, went to fill the feeders, found this fella munching through our buddleah... Mullein Moth Caterpillar I think
I've not seen these for a while, ramshorn snails in our garden pond
Just had a brief visit from a very pretty racing pigeon; thankfully it's now continued on its journey after a short rest. ........ relieved its continued on its way so quickly :)
