Jock the Sprawk Gets His Xmas Dinner Early (not for the squeamish)

I even managed a wee video!

So after weeks of watching my pretty boy hunt and constantly being unsuccessful in my garden today his Xmas came early...mines too as he sat so long posing...yeah ano it's not for everyone but I just adore birds of prey ;-)

He had just caught pidge...

He has caught the attention of the local maggies..well he is sitting out in the middle of the garden!!!

Jock certainly taking no chances and off he goes with his dinner

To the side of the Log Cabin

This spot should do...I had to go upstairs for a better view lol

Maggie was determined to get a bit...

He got a feather!

And after 40 mins or so it was time to try and take off lol

He made it up to the pole before he disappeared into the trees

The pretty boy certainly deserved his dinner . And normal feeding resumed as soon as he left.

No doubt the mafia will show up tomorrow's with reinforcements lol

OOh gory gory, but they too have to eat. I thought for one minute it had the Magpie, unusual that would be I thought, but then saw the victim was the pigeon, it would have made a good meal, but it's the tidying up they never do, leaving the feathers all over the place!!

Fabulous in all it's gory detail. We get Sparrow Hawks in the garden every now and then but never witnessed a kill. There's occasionally evidence of success around the garden though.

Terrific set of photos Linda, the reality of wildlife laid bare. Its not an uncommon sight in our garden as well. Last one we had was 3 foot from the lounge patio window with a Collard Dove. So lucky to get them as garden visitors.
When my parents were alive they used to get Red Kites in their back garden in the edge of suburban Reading.

I hope the sprawk swept up after creating that mess?

Seriously, brilliant photos and fabulously clear video. I bet the follow up with crows, magpies and other carrion birds was just as illuminating. I think I would have been glued to the window for ages, and probably have filled the camera card to bursting, well done.
