I'll start this years thread off with a couple of insects from a walk in the woods with my homemade beating sheet & a stick
a few 12-spot ladybirds
& a sleepy Weevil that I think is Lixus pulverulentus

Hi Dave, hope I don't turn the table round saying this but I have never been bitten by one but we have two the horse and deer fly both can give a nasty bite I saw one a few weeks ago and it was a big one and the people in the hide were takinh no notice of it I told them to be careful it did not get them, enough talk here is a link for you to look at.

A recent visit to RSPB Conwy, there were lots of hoverflies....
The honeybees were making the best of the rare sun appearances!
Another against a very rare blue sky!
I think, a drone fly, corrections are always welcome, though hoverflies were around.

It is bigger than the white tailed, could be a tree bumblebee maybe?
