I'll start this years thread off with a couple of insects from a walk in the woods with my homemade beating sheet & a stick
a few 12-spot ladybirds
& a sleepy Weevil that I think is Lixus pulverulentus
Last years thread is here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/206718/all-about-insects-2020

An orb spider trundling off along the wire fence...
On one of the culverts, a host of pond skaters were trying to move upstream!

I've not seen many spiders this year, but autumn does seem to bring them out, an orb weaver spider in the garden, resting after spinning an enormous web.
Orb spiders are quite common, and the weather has been brilliant here this week, typical late September weather, though in places the coming weekend isn't looking too clever.
The lavender is still yielding for this dronefly....

The wasps and bees are prolific, and this one was certainly getting stuck in!
The Holy order of Hornets
The nearby church gardeners shed was home to a hornets nest!
On the gatepost by the church was a collection of ladybirds
After the berry hunt,, with the sun still shining nicely and blue sky still abundant, I tried a little bit bird spotting, but alas, nothing photographable. The time came to pack up and go home, well, I had to pick Mrs PR up from work first, and the ladybirds suddenly seemed to be out in abundance!
I found a friend, that wanted to come home with me....
It was returned to its natural habitat
Common Lacewing. It will be interesting to see what takes up residence in the fallen tree it was on. I will need to log it a bit as I can't leave it and it's partner where they were dropped by the storm
