Well it's time to start a new thread for this year. I saw my 1st Red Admiral of the year yesterday & have had a couple of moths in the house & in the trap overnight.
The house moths come out of the firewood (I think), Ive had 3 around the computer this month, I just keep putting them back out Mompha subbistrigella
Photo taken of it in the plastic pot before I threw it out.
Then in the trap a couple of moths, Eudonia angustea, always around in the winter,
& this one which is several weeks early, not sure why, Orthosia incerta "Clouded Drab Moth"
Last years thread is here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/206393/butterflies-moths-2020 for those that want to have a bit of bedtime reading.
Best wishes

Unknown said:Lovely updates and photos everyone; no photos here but been told the recent planting for wildlife areas with pollinating plants and woodland have resulted in a first for the parkland here with sighting of a White-letter Hairstreak to go with small coppers (unusual here too) and Painted Lady and Purple Hairstreak ! Just need a clear day with good weather and a day free of appointments (Mike got the all clear again this morning so long may it continue :) and we'll be able to go on butterfly hunt !
Brilliant news on Mike's all clear, fingers crossed this continues.

First good day of sunshine in ages and the Butterflies were out celebrating in our garden.
A Meadow Brown not often seen in our garden.
A Brimstone, quite flighty but did manage a couple of shots.
A Brown Argus, not seen in the garden before
A Painted Lady, first one in the garden this year.
And finally a Female Holly Blue, a first sighting anywhere.
Hopefully the sunny weather will last.
Best Wishes,
Trevor
As I said, more knowledgable folk will correct me
