Well it's time to start a new thread for this year. I saw my 1st Red Admiral of the year yesterday & have had a couple of moths in the house & in the trap overnight.
The house moths come out of the firewood (I think), Ive had 3 around the computer this month, I just keep putting them back out Mompha subbistrigella
Photo taken of it in the plastic pot before I threw it out.
Then in the trap a couple of moths, Eudonia angustea, always around in the winter,
& this one which is several weeks early, not sure why, Orthosia incerta "Clouded Drab Moth"
Last years thread is here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/206393/butterflies-moths-2020 for those that want to have a bit of bedtime reading.
Best wishes
Hazel in Southwest France
Lots of butterflies around now with a poor female Adonis blue mobbed by males, I counted around 6 flying around her, it's difficult to see what was going on,
The blue colours were striking. The day before I spotted this Panther moth, I chased it around for ages before it settled long enough for a photo
Our weather has been great for butterflies but it's worrying having to water the garden in April.
Lot to learn

Yes, I don't know why I thought it was panther moth in UK, I just translated its French name!!
Lovely Comma in the garden today
Moth numbers have been really low here which I think might be partly due to a bitterly cold Easterly keeping night time temps suppressed and clear skies, it has also been very dry. Not sure what the butterfly numbers are as I am not permitted out and about due to Isolation requirement post a UK visit - counting down the days.
Last night the wind dropped and went West, temps went up and there was some cloud cover
A beautiful fresh Brimstone fluttered in and landed on my hand while I was settling into bed., it the sat on the wall for a bit - I have a balcony that I run a trap off and the door is open so the bear can sleep out there if he wants to ( probably about half the night)
There was another a trap in the morning
Early Thorn was probably the best find I'll try to get a better photo later as it was feeling a bit lively
I forgot these photos from the other day. What happens when you drop your trap upside down
