Well it's time to start a new thread for this year. I saw my 1st Red Admiral of the year yesterday & have had a couple of moths in the house & in the trap overnight.
The house moths come out of the firewood (I think), Ive had 3 around the computer this month, I just keep putting them back out Mompha subbistrigella
Photo taken of it in the plastic pot before I threw it out.
Then in the trap a couple of moths, Eudonia angustea, always around in the winter,
& this one which is several weeks early, not sure why, Orthosia incerta "Clouded Drab Moth"
Last years thread is here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/206393/butterflies-moths-2020 for those that want to have a bit of bedtime reading.
Best wishes

PimperneBloke said: Britains Butterflies WILDGuides (other vendors are available) And also the Dragons and Damsels book (also Wild Guides series) and they are both brilliant with clear photographs and descriptions, plus anomalies and all manner of ID tips and background information. I'm not sure who it was recommended them, but was someone on the forum
To give credit where it's due, I think Tony (TJ) has recommended several good ID books in the past and also the Brtains Birds Book by Wilduides which I was pleased I'd purchased on his recommendation and also Paul A mentioned the WildGuides Dragonfly/ butterfly "WildGuide) books.

Hi All,
Went to RSPB Wolves Wood in Suffolk yesterday, it's a well known spot for seeing Silver-washed Fritillaries and we weren't disappointed, and in the sunny intervals we quite a variety along with Fritillaries.
One or two of the Fritillaries were showing their age but most were in good condition.
Then two got together and performed a little dance for us.
Gatekeeper.
Small or Essex Skipper.
One of quite a few Peacocks.
Small White
All the best
Trevor
This one was fluttering about the garden this afternoon, Mother of Pearl I think
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
Found this one on my lounge windowframe today ... gently coerced into a pot ready for release at dusk

The Echinacea are out on our balony and so are the butterflies .... is this large white ? not sure !
.
The garden has been full of life the last couple of days, and butterflies were no less so than anything else, but they never stayed around long enough for me to get a piccie, that is, apart from this gatekeeper....
