Well it's time to start a new thread for this year. I saw my 1st Red Admiral of the year yesterday & have had a couple of moths in the house & in the trap overnight.
The house moths come out of the firewood (I think), Ive had 3 around the computer this month, I just keep putting them back out Mompha subbistrigella
Photo taken of it in the plastic pot before I threw it out.
Then in the trap a couple of moths, Eudonia angustea, always around in the winter,
& this one which is several weeks early, not sure why, Orthosia incerta "Clouded Drab Moth"
Last years thread is here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/206393/butterflies-moths-2020 for those that want to have a bit of bedtime reading.
Best wishes

The weather here is, yuk, battleship grey and no sign of it letting up (catching up for the lack of rain during April) anytime soon!
No butterflies or moths currently.

I really should know this one. Something to do with a carpet or a rug maybe?? Taken today, on Heathery / Peaty ground.

My first ever Green Hairstreak.
Well worth the wet legs, stomach and elbows from lying flat in the damp moss to photograph it.
Really made my day.!! :-)

Always good to get a first sighting.
I'm waiting to make a first sighting of the sun here!
Green Hairstreaks always look good against the pink of Thrift
Male Common Blue holding onto the bracken in the very gusty wind
A bit of a challenge, with not good pics.... could someone furnish ID's please, 2 different ones, both chalk downland on Hampshire/Dorset border
And... I'm leaning toward Chalkhill Blue (as it's the only one in my book that doesn't appear to have orange spots on the under forewing) for this one.
I'm posting a few more with ID queries in another thread, any help gratefully received :o)
Moths rocked up last night. It felt like an almost normal catch. As always there are always one or two that flummox me and this is one of them ....so I thought I'd challenge you lot
