No one can promise anything where birds are concerned ... but it will be a sad day if you don't get BNG's at St. Aidans in Spring as that's one of the premier sites in the UK for them.

I must have missed them Nigel the day i went, LOL

They aren't there in winter. They only come to breed. I went at the beginning of April 2019 and they were unmissable in the reed bed pools as they had arrived but weren't yet on the nest. Fabulous birds - which is why I want to catch them again this year ... if I can.

I don't know for sure but I think they should be there most of the Summer. I heard on the grapevine they have already started to arrive (but that is unconfirmed) and I guess they'll be around until at least August so plenty of time to have a look or two (hopefully). Good luck!

Don't you just love a nuthatch

A Goldfinch tree, I always wanted one:-) but the Yellowhammer is my favourite photo ILR, and the Nuthatch too is a good pic., I saw one while walking today, quite close by.

Thank you Gaynor glad you liked the photos, It’s been over a year since I last saw a nuthatch mainly because of the Covid rules and not being able to travel out of your area. I am looking forward to going back to the reserve that I took this picture there is usually a few about as well as Mandarins and Jays.
