Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Does have a big old tangle of roots Gaynor but have never planted it in garden, always in a pot in the pond which has to be periodically cut off when roots burst free, imagine it's quite invasive ... have divided it up several times to share with others!
Cyperus genus!
Taken this photo today Wendy, don't know if it is similar - good to get a name if it is
and close up
What do you reckon, it's looking a bit sturdy now to me, maybe not same as yours Wendy.
I love to watch birds (the feathered variety that is) bathing, though sadly, we don't have a bird bath in our garden. It had been planned for, but my accident diverted attentions away, but it'll be back on the plans sometime.
However, we do get quite a few birds actually standing on the pond netting, getting a shower from the pond fountain!
Here is a juvenile goldfinch from summer 2018.

Definitely not same Gaynor, looks familiar, will try to ID it!
gaynorsl said:Nice one Mike, the droplets look as if they are frozen, just shows you don't have to have a pond, a bowl of water or two dotted around does the trick.
Nature is very ingenious, or should that be resourceful, when needs must, especially on hot days like that was, with the temp reaching 30ºC and a cloudless sky
