Starting with a first for me ... Sparrowhawk in neighbour's garden here in quarry, only ever seen a seemingly lost youngster many years ago!
Grabbed ID vid footage through d/glazed door, then battery died & by time I'd replaced it to go outside for better res a delivery driver stopped next door & frightened the bird off!! grrrrrr
Hope it's a one-off for the sake of my Spadger horde!

Another miserable day of snow , wind and rain...birds were still hungry though...
Some of my usual daily visitors....always a pleasure to see
There's a queue for the feeders! Starlings with manors!
Redwings still here but numbers dwindling daily
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
With the persistent combination of strong winds and rain I've not been out with the camera much recently. There was a rare-ish visitor with a local sighting of a Smew (a red head) but it wouldn't come close when I saw it
Then, while out checking the local frog activity (not much) in wet woodland yesterday, I found myself just a few yards away from a pair of Roe Deer.
They kept an eye on me but really weren't that concerned providing I remained the same distance as when we first met.
It's not often I get such clear views of deer in woodland. There's normally lots of undergrowth obscuring the scene.
In the next one, I can just imagine the deer saying "Can you stop stuffing your face for a moment, I think that man is staring at my bottom!"

Nice collection of photos Nige, and everyone else.
You're not alone there Nige.
I've not been able to get out since the beginning of the month, and this weekend isn't looking too clever either.
Mind you, Saturday I'm stuck with family.....

Put up my first ever nest boxes on the front of our log cabin and already had some little inspectors....
I usually just have some little hanging bird hotels in the trees but this year decided I would like a clear view ...
Fingers crossed
