Starting with a first for me ... Sparrowhawk in neighbour's garden here in quarry, only ever seen a seemingly lost youngster many years ago!
Grabbed ID vid footage through d/glazed door, then battery died & by time I'd replaced it to go outside for better res a delivery driver stopped next door & frightened the bird off!! grrrrrr
Hope it's a one-off for the sake of my Spadger horde!

Unknown said:For those of you who remember I took two Goldfinches to our local wildlife hospital after flying into a window, the update is as follows: One goldie is doing absolutely fine now but the other has a wing injury (although can't be any break by all account) so they are together in an outside aviary and they are waiting to see in the injured bird (as I think they are paired up) recovers sufficiently, otherwise they will release the one that is good to go. Fingers crossed the other only has slight muscle injury and will improve but not getting my hopes up. At least one is ok so better news than expected.

That's brilliant news, fingers crossed for full recoveries.

Even the pheasants suffer from confinement, although this one turned around & went back down tha garden with a little persuasion.

Unknown said:Beautiful photo Mike, I rather like the first one that isn't cropped as it shows the whole pretty setting.
I have to agree with you, the surroundings set the scene.
One of the parks I regularly use for exercise has concrete blocks as indestructible seats. I've just noticed that when not being used by people they make great look out posts
Nice to see them back. I knew we got Wheatears up on the moors. I never realised they were in a local park much closer to home, too, but several have appeared just this week (at least I first noticed them this week).
