A glorious day at SWT Lackford Lakes.

What a change in the weather!  It was such a beautiful, sunny day today that Limpy and I decided to head to the lovely Suffolk Wildlife Trust reserve at Lackford Lakes in west Suffolk.  I'm so glad we did as the sightings started before we even made it into the Visitor Centre:

We both wondered at the cause of the missing feathers in only one wing.

The long-tailed tits couldn't get enough of this food-filled log!

Mr Blackbird finds some sunlight to pose in.

This blue tit looked unusually thoughtful.

Gotcha!

A robin sat sunning himself as we headed out to the hides.

A lone common gull lurked among the black-headeds.

Incoming!

'You go off and explore while I show the necessary attitude.'

There were a few lapwings about.  This one looked stunning in the sunlight.  Well, they always do.

I loved the greenish sheen on this cormorant.

Mr and Mrs Teal pose at the greylags' feet.

Some typical greylag subtlety!

Mr Mallard decides to hasten the teals along.

Mr Sheldrake joins in!

This lovely tufted duck contents himself with a bath and a flap.

This grey heron kept his beady eye on the goings-on.

A beautifully marked gadwall.......

........and a pochard.

The most elegant bird was, quite naturally, the mute swan.

The neighbourhood committee discussed the ongoing problem with the Egyptian geese.

A cute coot!

Awwww.  Togetherness........Canada goose style.

I couldn't resist this lovely rabbit back at the Visitor Centre.

Finishing off with a lovely peek-a-boo!

Enjoy, as always.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
