Sparrows

Having just the one sparrow visit my feeders for some weeks now, i was delighted to see 18 of them yesterday afternoon. The parents were busy feeding the young ones who were sitting in a guttering. This is a record for me, never expected to see so many. Tipton.

  • That's brilliant news Tipton. We sparrow lovers say that where one goes they all go. It's like follow-me-leader!!! Hopefully this colony will stay with you now.  They are such cheerful and happy little chaps and chapesses. Sit back and enjoy!  Any photos?

    Cheers, Linda.

  • Hello Sparrow, Sorry no photos, i am thinking about a decent camera, may have one for xmas. Like the look of the Cannon 500 with a 75 x 250 lens for getting real close up shots of birds etc. Have to admit i know nothing about cameras, lenses etc. I have been told that whilst downloading pictures onto a PC is okay, its another matter to print good quality photos. Would need to seek advice from someone in the know about this before parting with the dosh. All the best, Tipton.

  • Hi tipton.

That's brilliant news about the sparrows.  We get a good number of house sparrows locally but the general decline of both our native sparrow species is very sad.  Sparrows are magic, just the general cheekiness of them, and the fact the along with starlings make sure that little to no bird food gets wasted. :-)

    Paul.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

    Hi Tipton,

Have a look in the Gear Guide Forum. There are lots of discussions on cameras in there that will help you decide. I bought my Panasonic Lumix FZ38 on recomendations from other forum members. I couldn't have wished for a better middle-of-the-road camera.

    Cheers, Linda.
