They are the most magnificent birds aren't they?
I've never seen any close up or when I have had the camera with me, only when I've been on the motorway coming back from London.
Anyone who gets to see them, and close to home are really lucky. I'm hoping that a few years down the line, these beautiful birds can be seen in a lot more areas :o)
Congratulations Al, it must have made your day.
Another to add to my list of yet to see birds!
Cheers, Linda.

Fantastic photo there Woodpecker ty for puttin it up.
I was so chuffed to have seen them this evening . Only thing ws I was standing in the middle of the road and kinda held up the traffic lol
Sparrow It realy did . They are like Swallows on Steroids lol
So very majestic.
They put on an amazing show for me too today. I was supposed to be digging the vegetable plot but kept rushing for my camera. There must have been at least 10 in the sky and they were playing tag and generally seemed to be having fun. One memorable moment was when a pair locked talons and tumbled earthwards disengaging before they hit the ground. Never seen that before. Unfortunately, didn't get it on camera but here's one I did capture.
Hope you see them again on your next visit. regards.
TJ

Aye they are wonderful to watch and now that I know where they are you can bet I will be back to see them again.
Fantastic photo there by the way
Cheers
Hi TJ
That'a a fantastic picture. Well captured. I can't seem to get my one to come close enough and I'm always taking my photos when he is a dot far above me. One day he will be close enough though....
Hi AL,
If you come from Aberdeen, possibly the red kites you saw are connected with this RSPB Project:
http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/blogs/aberdeenredkites/default.aspx
The blog might give you a few clues about where to find them again.
Nice photos, Woodpecker and TeeJay
I hadn't seen any Red Kites until we visited the Chilterns twice last year. There were so many flying around it was quite frankly ridiculous! Have never seen so many birds of prey together in 1 place. Well worth a visit if you've never seen them before. Took this picture during 1 of the visits - ended up with 100's of pictures! They come so close and don't seem that bothered by people at all.
