Perhaps we should call the thread "Our Moths" to encourage other posters!

Well here is my moth HinNH ... common or garden I know but was surprised to find it nestled under my new Rose leaves, was there for about two days!

I think it is 'Angle Shades' & I only know that because of your excellent tuition!!

  • Brilliant Wendy. It was one of my first last year! At least it's caterpillars won't eat the roses (I don't think so)!! I had all of one rose stripped, buds & leaves, the lot by what I assume were the caterpillars of Garden Rose tortix. I know I love moths but I wasn't too pleased!

Tomorrow I am lending the trap to someone who lives in Exeter. He will have it for several days so it will be interesting to see what city moths come out to play!!

  • Poor pic 'cos he's in an awkward position, but is this one of those 'Wave' ones?

Only a teeny thing currently living in my kitchen!

  • Cheers edge.... these moths have great names....

  • It's lovely to see all these moths coming onto the thread & getting a bit more publicity for their cause!! They are often mis-understood! Thanks for posting.
