Just a quick hello, the move went well but too much to do & too little time to do it. I did a moth trap last Friday only 2 days after we finished moving, there over 250 moths & I'm still sorting them. This is one that came to the window soon after we moved, just to whet your appetites.
It's called a Brown China-mark.
Sorry it's a quick visit, will pop in again in a few days!

What a pretty moth, Wendy. I've never seen one of those but I'm usually in bed when they are active.

It came to me all neatly wrapped in a a marvellous little parcel TJ!
Good to hear you sent it happily on his way, did you do it a packed lunch!! LOL This is the caterpillar, one of the hairy one's
You'll have to keep an eye out.
Nah! It declined the flowers but said 'ta for the sugar water!' Lol
Thanks for lovely pic H, now I know what to look for but will wear some gloves to handle!
Would love to watch one make it's cocoon ... I did manage to see Red Admiral make a tent in which to pupate by folding over a leaf corner & securing it with silk! Fascinating!
Somebody told me its national moth night in the UK next week. What a great idea! If you're wondering what to use as a lamp, I've got a little camping lamp with led lights in & that seems to attract them quite well & tha battery will last a whole night easily.
Last Friday I had an amazing night on the reserve with 88 species (but I did use a big light). Here are a few of my recent one's to get you in the mood,
a Patton's Tiger moth
a Purple Cloud
a small Square spot
& a plain Golden Y (i think) though why it should be called plain is beyond me!!
Have fun next week.

I`m in the mood,Hazel but still quiet on the moth front here - W.Yorks. A BBC Springwatch presenter mentioned the diamond backed moth, apparently arriving in good numbers from the continent. Not looked for or spotted one before so I don`t know if this one`s a resident or not.
You`re photo collection`s brilliant - as ever. p.s Please send me a white plume,Hazel,God,anybody. :-)
Will you settle for Ermine Puss Moth EB??
Just catching up again and what stunning additions Hazel, the Patton's Tiger and Purple Cloud moth colours & marking are fabulous.
