Just a quick hello, the move went well but too much to do & too little time to do it. I did a moth trap last Friday only 2 days after we finished moving, there over 250 moths & I'm still sorting them. This is one that came to the window soon after we moved, just to whet your appetites.
It's called a Brown China-mark.
Sorry it's a quick visit, will pop in again in a few days!
P.S This is the link to my previous moth thread http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/wildlife/f/13609/t/111255.aspx
Best wishes

Two more unknowns from Moth trapping night
Only shot I have of this ... fuzzy variety!
Here are a few more that I think I know
Beautiful Silver Y
Was good to see a real live one after finding that dead one after the fire
Setaceous Hebrew Character, we had two of these beauties
Copper Underwing, rather tatty but I did see the lovely underwing colour although couldn't get a pic of it unfortunately
Mother of Pearl
Cant find your Cat yet so put it out on the web... Nice moth pix tho'
Hope to have the trap back after my hols to see whats about in my garden over the Autumn.
Many thanks DO, have just added another couple of moth pics which had vanished from my album so had to copy from another site I posted on!
Strange thing about the caterpillar, I thought it would be so easy to ID because of it's very distinctive markings, must have looked at several hundred Butterfly/Moth/Sawfly larvae but no luck!! Could it be a foreigner off a boat or lorry, was in Ramsgate but not near the port!
Fantastic set of photos, Wend, lots of beautiful Moths. Can't say what your wriggler is, although it seems to have all the characteristics of some type of Fritillary. Maybe it's in here somewhere?
My bird photos HERE
I had come to same conclusion PA but had not seen this great site for fritillary caterpillar ID, thanks for the link! Wiggly eyes again & the nearest match (not exact though) I see is Spotted Fritillary but it's very rare apparently... more investigation methinks!
You've really caught the mothing bug (so to speak), Wendy. Nice set of photos. The Silver Y is a beauty. I remember seeing one on my patch in daylight hours a few years ago.
Hope you ID your caterpillar. I've no clue I'm afraid.

Thanks TJ, it's a fascinating subject alright & I find that I'm not afraid to handle them or have them flapping round me either! Sat in garden yesterday with a pretty little Shieldbug on my shoulder ... more worrying was the fact that I was talking out loud to it, didn't realise until I spied OH convulsed with laughter!!!
Please, please help me ID this beautiful little moth on my white Buddleia this morning ..... vid to follow
Seen something similar called Mother Shipton but not at all sure! Now ID'd as Broad-barred White, thanks HinNH!!
Edit: Here is vid
Is that Robin singing I hear?
