Just a quick hello, the move went well but too much to do & too little time to do it. I did a moth trap last Friday only 2 days after we finished moving, there over 250 moths & I'm still sorting them. This is one that came to the window soon after we moved, just to whet your appetites.
It's called a Brown China-mark.
Sorry it's a quick visit, will pop in again in a few days!
P.S This is the link to my previous moth thread http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/wildlife/f/13609/t/111255.aspx
Best wishes

Hazel C said:the moth in the photo is a poor innocent bystander & nothing to do with Plum moths. I expect the editor said "Get me a picture of any moth". The plum moth is a small brown job!
LOL Hazel. Never believe anything you read in the papers (esp the Daily Mail).

Yep !!!!
I disturbed this little moth this afternoon whilst out on a walk. I'm thinking a Wood Carpet (Epirrhoe rivata) but as you know my moth ID skills need some work. So top of the class or do I have to stand in the corner.

Go find your corner Tony, it's E.alternata (Common carpet) courtesy of the thin grey line that runs through the centre of the white band, particulary on the underwing (E.rivata is pure white band on the hind wing)
Oh well, I wasn't too far out so at least I don't have to wear the dunces hat. LOL
I only know 'cos I've had a few debates with "the boss" online about it. He's keen to find E.rivata but it always ends up E. alternata!!
This old lady called round last night to say "You`ve been sat here nearly every night for 18 months, waiting."
"Well,it`s here"
Emmelina? Have to call the first one Dave!!

Does anyone know the name of this moth? Was in the trap at local nature reserve last night & I was told the type but now have completely forgotten!
Elder pearl moth. Anania coronata.
I`ll get the backboard to my outside light re-painted,one of these days!
Quick off the mark ... many thanks EB!
Here's my Old Lady
And another I can't remember but has the most beautiful eyes
Sounds like you had a good time at the local reserve Wendy, was it a night-time do & how long did you stay? I had one organised for early August but had to cancel due to bad weather forecast & it poured with rain so was justified in cancelling. I'm hoping to do it in September now.
Your one with the lovely eyes MIGHT be a Drinker (if that rings a bell?)
