Just a quick hello, the move went well but too much to do & too little time to do it. I did a moth trap last Friday only 2 days after we finished moving, there over 250 moths & I'm still sorting them. This is one that came to the window soon after we moved, just to whet your appetites.
It's called a Brown China-mark.
Sorry it's a quick visit, will pop in again in a few days!
P.S This is the link to my previous moth thread http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/wildlife/f/13609/t/111255.aspx
Best wishes

Well done Wendy, it's always a thrill when you pin something down. Don't know if you've visited this site here which I came across recently, a lot of intersesting stuff on it. Great photo's by the way, I'll be keeping my eye open for these now.

That is a fabulous site PA, many thanks for the link & one of the first images I find is the HBHM at rest just like TJ's pic!!
Another fact which has emerged since my last post. is that my caterpillar could also well be a 6spot!! Apparently 5 & 6 are only differentiated by hair length ... 5 spots have 2.4mm tresses! Ha ha .... Will have to catch the darn thing now for a measure up!
Is all so very absorbing ... HinNH, your enthusiasm has certainly rubbed off! Lol

Agreed.!!
I have to say my heart swells with pride when I see you both discussing moths & caterpillars. Brilliant! Keep em coming!
P.S. My gut feeling is a 6 spot for your caterpillar Wendy based on the markings, but I'm probably wrong. Like a lot of things, the fun is in the looking & the finding out yourself!
Glad we make you feel good HinNH, you deserve it for all your hard work for all our benefits!!
According to my research so far, the only difference between the 5 & 6 spot caterpillar is the length of the hair spikes!!
That site that PA guided me to contains a great deal of useful info & images, have you seen it ... www.animalphotos.me
A couple of moffs for Hazel to identify.
No idea about this one.
One of the tigers I think but I can't remember which. I couldn't get a very good angle on it. Lovely flash of orange when it flew.

Four-spotted (Tyta luctuosa) & a Jersey Tiger. Were these from your hols too?
Fancy moths TJ , very striking that JT!
Nice Moths Tony. The Four-spotted is seemingly quite scarce in the UK.
Thanks for the ID's Hazel. Yes, all in the Camargue
