RIght then - after a bit of discussion it seems 23rd September would be a good date for quite a few of us so let's go with that date! Hope as many of you can come as possible. We can sort out the finer details - times etc later. It woud be great if you could add your name to the list if you can come. So far, definites are:

I've also flagged this up with Shane - he has a lot going on at the moment so will probably make a late decision and just rock up on the day if he can.
Yes, we need to swap mobile numbers. On the day it might be simplest if we agree one person's number as the one to call/text to find out what's what? This is how things work on our aikido pub crawls (!) - if anyone's late or lost they just call or text the designated 'beer hotline' to find out where we all are.

Have a great time CB with lots of pics to share with us less fortunate types!!! Lol

Thanks WB - have bought my train ticket for London so am definitely committed now!
Just going to Centerparcs with my family for a few days so it's not a birdwatching holiday but it's surprising what you can see in the forest or from your villa window - especially if you take a few suet sprinkles and peanuts with you!!
Which Centerparcs are you going to? I hope you have a good time.
By the way I don't carry a mobile phone so let's hope nothing goes pear-shaped when I travel in!!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Going to the one in Suffolk (Elveden)
Am sure you will find us all without any difficulty!
Elveden is the one nearest to me. It's a lovely part of Suffolk - I can recommend visiting Lakenheath Fen (RSPB) or Lackford Lakes (Suffolk Wildlife Trust) if you get the chance.
I've had a good look at a map and I have a good idea of where I'm going. I'm usually OK at finding my way. I just don't like mobile phones.
Thanks Clare - will try and see if I can persuade my husband (who is not a birdwatcher) to be kind to me!!
When I get back, we'll have to see about swapping e-mail addresses etc to work out the finer details! Have a good week :-)
You could always tell him he might see an osprey......both Lakenheath and Lackford are migration stopping points. Lakenheath had at least one juvenile around for a fair length of time last year.
Good luck!!
Just to confirm an 11:30 meet is fine for me. I reckon it will take me about 75 mins from home.
