Natural Christmas decorations

Ever tried scouring your local park for fallen pine cones? They make excellent natural Christmas decorations if taken home and left to dry out.
Create a simple but elegant table decoration by scattering them around church candles and you can even add a bit of sparkle by spraying them gold or silver. Add a piece of ribbon to hang them from your Christmas tree or incorporate them into wreathes.
Making cuttings of ivy, holly and mistletoe can also give your Christmas decorations a natural feel. Try picking lengths of ivy that trail which can be woven together around picture and mirror frames, candles or draped over mantelpieces. Bunch sprigs of holly and mistletoe together and hang from door frames or around fireplaces.
Achieve that warm, Christmas spice smell by drying out slices of orange. Add to decorations or mix into a bowl with cloves and cinnamon to create a Christmas pot pourri.

Last year I tied a string of pine cones together with gold thread, added touches of gold with a light spray and a bit of glitter, and hung them on the tree instead of tinsel :o)
