One of the nicest things about working on a nature reserve is that it really comes to life during the school holidays, particularly from Easter onwards.
I love walking across the site here at The Lodge to go to a meeting or get a cup of tea, and hearing the delighted squeals of children enjoying nature and the fresh air.
At home I'm constantly amazed and encouraged by how fascinating my daughter finds nature, and it's great fun being able to share in her journey of discovery.
This last week we've been talking about birds and ducks laying eggs - she totally gets that but is thoroughly confused why humans don't do it as well!
If you want to get your little chicks out in the fresh air, our reserves are great places to go. Some even do hands-on activities, as this lovely photo of two young girls getting close to nature at Loch Leven shows. The photo was by Andy Hay and comes courtesy of RSPB Images.
