After yesterday afternoon's downpour, the sun is shining brightly at Radipole.  A combination of a high tide and and heavy rain means the water levels are much higher than usual. There are plenty of Tufted Ducks and Mallard at the Discovery Centre but they are not able to get onto the island but have gathered around in a flock. Three Little Grebes have been seen among the flock.

The Hooded Merganser is back at his usual place near the Discovery Centre bridge and the Marsh Harrier has been delighting visitors in the Discovery Centre by swooping over the reed beds in full view. Hooded Merganser

Around the reserve there are flocks of Long Tailed Tits and Goldfinches. The Winter Heliotrope is in full bloom and Violets are starting to come into flower.

Though the paths have puddles in places they are easily passable. At the North end of the reserve, the river has burst its banks flooding the area. The old Boardwalk is underwater and very unstable.

The Winter Trail is completely flooded and impassable even in wellies.
