Over on Lodmoor, there are approximately 30 Common Tern nests, also an Oystercatcher and Black Headed Gulls nests on the islands in front of the Viewing Shelter. The Little Terns on Chesil Beach are also doing well at the moment with 48 nests and 18 chicks hatched so far.
Some of our cattle made a bid for freedom today! This one was particularly inquisitive wanting to know what I was doing with great interest. Cattle are important to the reserve in the summer months munching the vegetation in certain areas and maintaining the reserve's diversity. The grazier was called and the cattle safely gathered back all together.
