After a painfully early start to my working day I was rewarded with tremendous views of a pair of kingfishers going about their business at North Hide this morning. After about five minutes of watching them perched side-by-side, I summoned Luke and his camera from the office. Before Luke's arrival one bird landed on the roof of the lower tier of the hide, about a metre away yet seemingly oblivious to my presence - the hide clearly living up to its name!

Needless to say, by the time Luke and camera put in an appearance one of the pair had moved off, we were however granted fantastic views and photo opportunities of the remaining bird perched, fishing and preening. From now until Christmas is the best period to see Kingfishers on Radipole and North Hide often the most productive spot as our purpose built perches can - as this morning attests – lure them into photographic range.
