Friend of the Weymouth Wetlands, naturalist and top notch camera boffin Pete Coe had his plans to visit the Sub-Continent for the festive period put on ice (literally - due to the 'snow chaos'). However, undeterred Pete ventured to his local patch in the hope of capturing a glimpse of a streaky brown and black striped predator and Radipole duly obliged - it may not have been the Tiger that India may have supplied but these are pretty special bittern images I am sure that you'll all agree.
Our appreciation must go to our Site Manager Nick Tomlinson who continued the pre-dawn supplementary provision of sprats to our ice bound bittern from Christmas Day onwards to several locations on both Radipole and Lodmoor. The above images, I am told, were taken adjacent to one such location off Radipole Park Drive.
Many thanks for the Photos Pete.
And a Happy New Year to Y'all!
Exceptional photo's, well done to all who propagate their habitat, provide essential nourishment on some of the coldest mornings and capture such fine images for us all to enjoy! Happy New year one and all!!
