RSPB volunteer, Dave Morphew, has sent in the latest progress pics on the Viewing Shelter area. As you can see the digger has now been brought in to do some heavy moving and lifting.

The digger has been busy moving the material ready to spread out over the path to the new Viewing Shelter.

Now an update on last week's mega litter pick by the Weymouth Beach Dog Walkers and the other members of the public who responded to the request. A VERY BIG thank you to the 16 people who filled up 20 bags of litter in 2 hours. Radipole Lake is looking much more spick and span.

Despite the weather being dull grey and misty, today's big news is - the first Sand Martin has been seen! Other birds about today are Kingfisher, Marsh Harrier, Teal, Gadwall, Shoveler, Pochard, Shelduck, Hooded Merganser, Cetti's Warbler, Chiff Chaff, Common Gull, Mediterranean Gull. Garden birds about are Goldfinches, Goldcrests, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Blackbirds and Robins.

More plants are coming into flower, the Alexanders around the car park,a very early Cow Parsley and a Hogweed - late April is more usual.

Spring is here! The Lesser Celandine with its heart shaped leaves is coming in to flower.  Dead-nettle patch is also coming into flower as is primroses. I snapped these photos this afternoon.
