Since our last public night on Wednesday evening, we have been monitoring the nightjars every night. The good news is they are still here and we really hope they are getting their young ready to fledge - probably over the coming weekend if all has gone well with them.
However, It has been much more difficult to see or hear the birds before darkness recently, and the churring has generally been intermittent and distant as well. They seem to becoming active well after dark, which doesn't make for a great viewing event!
Weather permitting, we will still be here this week on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 (from 8:30 for 8:45 walk to site) to monitor the nightjars as usual, but please note our caution on being able to see the birds after our experiences over the last week
