It's wonderful to walk around The Lodge and hear all the birdsong. It's such a contrast after the dark, silent days of snow and ice.

Take a wonder around and you could hear nuthatch, treecreeper, goldcrest, blue, great and coal tits, chaffinch, song and mistle thrushes, blackbird, robin, wren and dunnock! Oh, and siskins in a few places.

Why not take the opportunity to brush up on your birdsong identification, before the trees get their leaves and it's harder to see who's singing?

Far less tuneful was the raven seen flying over the heath on Monday morning. They don't really go in for tuneful singing, preferring a deep, loud 'kronk'!
