With a large influx of hawfinches being reported across the UK it's no surprise that several birds have been heard and seen flying over the reserve in recent days, with the latest being seen by Lizzie Bruce our warden, low over the new heath this morning. If one would land it would be great!

With the incredibly mild conditions still continuing well into October, our volunteer Terry Murfitt had a hobby yesterday over the heath and Visitor Centre, which must be close to the latest date record. A firecrest was reported along the path to the hide and redwings are being seen in flocks as they descend over The Lodge and settle in for the winter.
