It's been a great start to the Easter hols, we couldn't have asked for better weather and lots of visitors, especially families and children, are taking advantage of the sunshine during the school break and getting out to enjoy nature here at The Lodge
.
Our Easter trail is up and running and we have 20 images of birds, nature and wildlife to identify. Pop into the Visitor Information Centre (or shop) on arrival and collect a trail sheet. We ask for a £1 donation per sheet please and children receive a Wild Time certificate at the end.

The spring migrant birds are arriving, willow warblers, chiffchaffs, and blackcaps are all in full song around the reserve and we should soon have the first cuckoos and hobbies to welcome back. A lesser redpoll was on the hide feeders yesterday, a reminder that winter has only just passed.

Steve Kershaw will be here for the first of this year's art demonstrations. Steve will be at the Visitor Centre this Sunday (9th) and the forecast is looking good and could even reach 20 degrees! Time to get those shorts out of hibernation!

I noticed on the way home last night that the bluebells in the woodland near Everton are starting to appear. This is very early, we used to expect them around the 20th April, but a sign of how nature is changing and adapting.

We hope to see you over the holidays, come and enjoy the reserve as it springs back to life!
