I've never been able to get a Photo of a Kingfisher. I've always got the stick where it was :).

I had the same for quite a while - just a stick in my viewfinder then it happened to turn up, always takes ages waiting but in my experience the sun needs to be shining and best either in the morning before 11 or afternoon after 15:00.

Photo looks quite soft on this page but I think is due to file compression. The actual image is much sharper.
