Wow, What a great early morning me and my sister Pat have just had we arrived at strumpshaw at 4.15am to the sounds of a cuckoo and a bitten the weather turned very cold as dawn broke with haunting mist all around us,it was great. we saw three kingfishers a sparrow hawk, common sandpiper, loads of sedge warblers, and many more wonderfull sounds and sights,Including the otter swimming past us at fen hide.
Already looking forward to the next time.
Sounds amazing! I've just seen your photo in the gallery - what an atmospheric scene. It must have been really something to hear a bittern booming through that mist. I'm rather jealous!
It's been good at Strumpshaw recently. Went there this mornig and saw 3 otters when I arrived at the reception area. Great stuff. Will never forget seeing Osprey and Red Kite there 2 years ago. And of course last year on my birthday seeing a Great White Egret. What a present.
Coots are fun to watch
