Lackford Run is still temporarily closed unfortunately but we're working on getting this open as soon as possible.  The River Path is extremely muddy and slippery in places so please be careful and if you encounter any flooding, please turn back.

Starlings - still no sign that our beloved autumn visitors will be roosting at Strumpshaw this year.  We had thousands at this time last year so it's not looking promising that we'll have a big flock this winter.  If you hear of a large murmeration nearby in the broads please do let us know as we'd be interested to see where they've ended up!

Rooks are building in number nicely and thousands of these noisy birds can be seen flying in to roost at dusk from Buckenham station and carpark.

Bittern sightings are really regular now from all the hides.

Otters are continuing to make people's day by showing really nicely from all of the hides, in the river and by the sluices.

Waxwings are arriving in flocks and can be seen all over the reserve. They seem quite un-bothered by humans and people are getting wonderful close-up views of these striking birds.

Siskins and redwings are also being seen very regularly as they move through the reserve to feed.
