Wood anemones in Stour Wood

These plants come out at approx. the end of March each year, in spring. See how many you can count!!

Wood anemones are part of a group of woodland flowers which indicate whether a site is very ancient - these flowers and trees (e.g. bluebells, yellow archangel, crab apple) find it very difficult to spread out of woodlands into new areas and are therefore generally confined to the most ancient of woods.
