Although many observers have been up to Rutland Water for the Birdfair there were still a number of good sightings reported in South Essex.
West Canvey Marsh
A good mixture of birds have been seen on West Canvey. An Egyptian Goose has dropped in for a visit and a Tree Pipit has been reported. Among the more normal sightings have been; Green Sandpiper, Cetti's Warbler, Ringed Plover, Swift and House Martin. There have still been some Swift and one report of a Whinchat.
Bowers Marsh
Bowers has been hosting a number of interesting species. On the water Ruff, Green Sandpiper and Oystercatcher. On dry land have been Sedge Warbler, Wheatear, Red-legged Partridge, Spotted Flycatcher, Swallow and Marsh Harrier. Non-avian species recorded have been Water Vole, Common Lizard and a number of Painted Lady butterflies.
Vange Marsh
Despite its drained status, awaiting maintenance, there have still been a few sightings around the reserve. Greenshank, Redshank, Common Sandpiper and Green Sandpiper have all been seen.
