We're almost there! We are just putting the finishing touches to the new visitor centre at Sherwood Forest, ready to open in mid-August!
Our contractors have almost completed the building - then follows a hectic period of fitting the shop, getting the cafe prepped for service and moving our staff team into their new home!
We think the building looks fantastic, and will offer the modern gateway to the forest which we'd always planned for it to be - but we hope you will visit soon and be the judge of that for yourselves!
Obviously, this move across will take time, and for anyone who already regularly visits the forest, our apologies for the disruption to normal service that the transition period will naturally bring, but we are oping to keep it to a minimum.
The current visitor centre is now closed (as of July 23) with access only to the toilets and a refreshments kiosk during the changeover period. Parking will still be available at the current centre car park until August 1, and throughout the period, at our new car park off Swinecote Road, near to the new centre and adjacent to the fairground. It will also be free of charge until week commencing August 13, when we plan to open our new centre!
Please check our dedicated website www.visitsherwood.co.uk for full details about the transition period, and the progress of the new centre!
