Well, Winter might actually be here, it pouring down and its almost dark!

Yet, despite the rain, there is still plenty to see at Sandwell Valley.

A Water pipit was a surprise find on the bund on the 29th, bang on time for this species moving through and a cracking record for the reserve!

A pair of Pintail have been around for a week now. The male is a really smart bird so check out the lake as they are often seen feeding around the edge of the lake.

48 Goosander was a brilliant count today and by far and away the highest count of the Autumn so far.

A Green sandpiper is lingering in the marsh, feeding up on invertebrates.

It really is a water bird spectacle at the moment as there are also Goldeneye, Pochard, Little grebe, Gadwall and Tufted duck all over the lake. Listen out for the Water rail as it squeals from the reeds, there are at least 3 on site at the moment.

Other highlights include Grey wagtail, Willow tit, Kingfisher, Nuthatch and Lapwing across the site and with Redwings, Fieldfares and Mistle thrushes in the bushes eating the berries, Sandwell Valley really is an exciting place to be!
