Hi everyone,

The garden at the front of the visitor centre is looking really lovely at the moment so I thought I would share some pictures with you!

Some of the early flowering plants are out in bloom and looking lovely:

The primroses look stunning.

As does the crocus'.

We were very excited to see the first of the snakes head fritillerys! They are the UK's only native fritillery.

What flowers are blooming in your garden?

March is a good planting month, as the soil is starting to warm up while plants are still largely dormant and don’t mind being moved. Evergreen hedges, such as holly or box, make a good screen for front gardens.

Jobs for the month
Finish planning for the year
Plant shrubs and perennials
Feed and mulch beds and borders
Sow hardy annuals
Plant summer bulbs
Cut back buddleia
Start landscaping projects, such as a patio
If you have made a new pond, now is a good time to introduce frogspawn
Plant bare rooted deciduous hedges in cooler areas of the north
Plant evergreen hedges (holly, yew etc) in the south
Make a mini wetland
Chit seed potatoes
Plant strawberries
