Hi All

The Truxor, an amphibious machine, is currently on site helping out with some reed bed management work. This great piece of kit, operated by Aquaclear, is able to cut the phragmites (reed) under water from a floating position, preventing the need to drain down the area of work, which is much better ecologically. Work has had to finish early today due to a dodgy sprocket! But will hopefully pick up again on Monday.

They are cutting a section of the Lee Marsh around the Ashby hide. This is a difficult site for us to get in too and cut by hand due to deep channels and some very squidy mud, but this is proving no issue to the Truxor. They will be leaving the patch of reed with viewing channels directly in front of the hide to offer (fingers crossed) some nice bittern viewing once the rest of the reed is cut.
So lets hope the weather holds.
