Afternoon everyone,
How are you?
Happy Bank Holiday Monday!
Just thought I would let you know some of the wildlife highlights of the day...
The kingfishers have been showing nicely today. The Gadwall hide the pair have been quite active, it seems they have decided on a hole, and are doing their thing. They've been seen mating, so hopefully they will start laying eggs soon.
The pair at the Kingfisher hide are quite active - they are currently feeding young, so the adults are being seen quite often bringing in fish to the nesting bank!
If you go into the Kingfisher hide don't forget to look all around... There is a crow's nest at the top of the pylon, a pair of kestrels in the boxes on the pylon, and a watervole has been seen swimming in the water near the hide!

The fox has been seen about today.

A buzzard has been flying over today.
The warblers are showing/ singing nicely. Keep an eye and ear open around the whole reserve - you might see/ hear chiffchaff, blackcap, whitethroat, sedge warbler, reed warbler, cettis warbler, grasshopper warbler and maybe garden warbler.
As well as our barn owls, we have a pair of tawny owls nesting on site! We haven't seen them today, but keep your eyes pealed!
