Hi everyone!
How are you?
I thought I would share some more pictures of the baby barn owls!
For the longest time we weren't sure what the barn owls were doing - but we saw the adults taking in food so we were pretty sure they were feeding young. The Rye Meads Ringing Group decided to have a quick look to see if there were babies and how old they were. Turns out the babies were older than we thought so the other day (Monday evening) they went out to ring the babies. I was lucky enough to be there, so heres some pictures for you!
This is the youngest of the two babies - the ringers think he/ she'll be fledging in about a week.
Although the babies are covered in their baby fluff - you can see their proper feathers!
Here you can see the underside of the wing, and the small ring on the babies leg (it's just like us wearing a watch)
This is the older of the two babies - who the ringers think will be fledging in a few days. You can see the young stretching - you can see how long the legs are!
Aren't they adorable!
Keep an eye out - we probably will but we are waiting to see what they do! I will let you all know on here!
