All our lovely visitors please bear with us. We still have the contractors on site and they are even working this weekend to try to get the work done quickly. You can still get to the Draper Hide and to the ramp overlooking the Ashby Hide and reedbed, but the paths are closed beyond this point, so you can't get into the Ashby, Gadwall, Tern, Kingfisher or Warbler Hides. We are really sorry for the closure, but hope that the reedbed works will ultimately make the reserve an even better place. We have timed the works at our quietest time of year, between the big flocks of winter ducks and the arrival of our summer wildlife, to try to minimise the upheaval.

You can make a day of it in the Lee Valley by visiting some other site locally, such as the Wildlife Trust part of the Rye Meads Reserve, Amwell and Fishers' Green, or why not try another RSPB reserve this weekend like The Lodge in Sandy, Bedfordshire, Fowlmere in Cambridgeshire or Rainham on the eastern edge of London.

We will update the blog as soon as the reserve is fully open again.
