Our 3rd brood of kingfishers have hatched!!
Today our adult kingfishers were taking fish in to the bank at the kingfisher hide a sure sign of youngsters in the burrow. The adults do not feed each other while they incubate the eggs they each take turns incubating giving them plenty of time to catch fish for themseleves. Now the young have hatched both parents will also share in bringing fish to the young for the next 26-31 days before the young fledge. While the young are still small one of the adults will spend time brooding the young over night and when the weather is cooler but as the young grow in size and get hungrier the adults wil be coming ang going very regularly with fish.
Other sightings today include 2 water vole around the feeding area, green shank, snipe, little egret, buzzard and green sandpipers
Hope to see you here soon
